Coping and Task Performance
An in-person, experimental examination of a brief coping intervention on the effects of physiological stress responses (i.e., sweat response and heart rate) of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in response to two different types of stress.

Child Sleep Project
This study was funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and examined how different forms of family stress may contribute to sleep difficulties during middle childhood, as assessed daily over a one week period.

All Kinds of Families
This study was funded by the Center for Research on Violence Against Women and examined how problem drinking affects stress hormones in married couples and their children.

Me and My Grandparents
The purpose of this study was to examine how relationships with grandparents can affect the mental health and well-being of college students, how relationships with grandparents might be similar or different to relationships with parents, and how relationships between college students and their grandparents might have been affected by COVID-19 and the lockdown.

Growing Up in My Families
The purpose of this study was to explore how family experiences (including the substance use of parents, family conflict, and parenting style) influence the transition from adolescence to adulthood (including academic achievement/aspirations, mental health, and relationships).

Grandparents In Gardens
This study was funded by a UK Igniting Research Collaborations grant and extended a study of how gardening can improve the health of grandparents rearing grandchildren in rural Appalachia to include an assessment of stress hormones, systemic inflammation, and mental health in grandparents and grandchildren.

Family Relationships Survey
National online survey funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that examined how mother and father problem drinking influence parenting and the development of emotion regulation in children.

Daily Lives of Students
This survey assessed college students daily stress, academic behaviors, mental health, and substance use over a three-week period.

Raising Teenagers Survey
National online survey funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that examined how parent substance use may impact the way that parents socialize their children to substance use, including communication of different messages and rules and consequences for adolescent substance use.

Sleep and Romantic Relationships
Following the sleep patterns of college students over a one-week period, this study focused on how poor sleep may contribute to increased aggression in relationships by reducing the ability to regulate emotions.
